NØ NAME is a luxury fashion brand based out of London. If you want to take your style to new heights and are looking for premium materials to dress in, NØ NAME is for you. See our vast collection below.
A French brand founded in 1991 by the Rautureau family, NØ NAME is known for its iconic platform sneakers for women. In 2024, NØ NAME opened up its sneakers to men, committing to their belief that style has no gender.
No matter the time of year or type of weather, statement footwear is never out of season at Brenda Muir, so let’s look a little closer at one of our favourite brands, NØ NAME.
History of NØ NAME
Developed in France by the Rauturea family, the brand has been designing various styles of shoes for women since 1991. Intent on breaking the mould with its anti-brand image and moniker, NØ NAME didn’t want to just create another pair of sneakers: enter the platform.
Platform shoes have had a long and storied history, and, believe it or not, originally had a practical purpose, with 15th-century Venetians using them to traverse the city’s waterlogged streets.
In the 1900s, the platform shoe had several renaissances in every decade from the 40s onwards, with designers using the extra space afforded by the sole to create a look unique to each decade, with many celebrities rocking their own takes own the look, including Stevie Nicks, David Bowie, and Elton John.
Come the 90s, the platform was reinvented once more with NØ NAME designer Maison Rauturea creating a shoe that had a considerable impact, standing above the rest (pun intended) with a 5cm platform shoe.
In the same decade, a further resurgence in the popularity of the shoe was spearheaded by celebrity endorsees, The Spice Girls.
What sets them apart?
We’ve seen that each decade has had its unique take on the platform. Now in their third decade of business, what has kept NØ NAME relevant?
Championing sincerity, audacity, passion, independence, and combativeness, these values have manifested in not just their commitment to genderless fashion but also their commitment to technological innovation in the name of sustainable practice and environmental awareness.

NØ NAME is rigorous in its research, design, and production. Starting with the sourcing of materials, extensive research and development take place. This has led to no name using an ever-increasing number of recycled materials in their shoes, including polyesters from plastic bottles, recycled denim, cork chips, and other material scraps.
Recycling is an effective method of reducing production impact, but so is reusability, which is why NØ NAME ensures that its products are suitably durable. Each new launch ensures products are tested for not just quality and comfort but for resistance to wear, too.
The look
Finally, we come to the trainers themselves. At first glance, there’s an undeniable nostalgic effervescence that harks back to NØ NAME’s 90s origins. Look closer, and you’ll see that these shoes belong in the future of fashion.
